AR-Stoner is the brand house that is sold by MidwayUSA and gets favorable reviews. Barrels are believed to be manufactured from Saturn as well as ER Shaw. Barrels are considered to be a very basic product.
It’s not cheap, but I’m not saying it is. They’re priced fairly to me. They have an excellent online reputation and rely on their aerospace experience to make barrels on their own (harder and more difficult to locate in the present).
Their most well-known feature lies in Their “Gunner” profile which utilizes the best of Government profiles as well as Pencil profiles. See my artistic talents:
It is more robust to improve the resistance to heat and reduce the barrel whip. When you reach the block for gas it transforms into an outline for the .625 gas block and has a lower weight.
I also like the way you can combine gas blocks and they also have my personal favorite. The Goldilocks Barrel
It has everything I’d like in an all-purpose build:
- 16” for the purpose of avoiding permanently attaching muzzle devices permanently
- Mid-length gas system to allow for softer shooting than the carbine
- Gunner profile
- 5.56 chamber to eat everything
If you’re in search of the smallest barrel that doesn’t require the tax stamp or even entering the category of Pistol category, look into their 14.5 barrel. It has an attached muzzle device permanently. I wrote a complete review on the version with pencils.
If you’re thinking about weight savings…you will not be disappointed by the 16 pencil barrel.
It is important to note that using pencils will make your groups more open somewhat under rapid firing.
Match Accuracy Barrel:
Switch to the much more precise .223 Wylde chamber. I am currently working on one to check for accuracy, so keep an eye out
The Short Barrel:
I like 11.5″, as it has a significantly longer dwell time than or even 10.5”, and is also shorter. The most problems I’ve observed in AR pistols are with individuals who were too fast.
Other Calibers:
Faxon was also among the very first firms to shift into 9mm pistol carbines (PCC) which is why they are a top performer in that area as well. Alongside other options are available for AR-15 as well as AR-10.
