Narwhals are one of the most threatening species in the world. Only 80,000 or so narwhals are left behind in this world. And most of them are living in the Arctic Ocean of Canada. Many people think that they are just fictional characters like unicorns and Pegasus, but it is not true. They are real; people think this way because extremely few people have seen them in real life. After all, they are rare, and they mostly live secretly.

Narwhals are carnivores and love to eat the meat of some aquatic creatures.

So, let’s discuss what they exactly eat and what they do not like to eat:

What Do Narwhals Mostly Eat?

As immensely few narwhals are left behind in this world, they usually live secretly to protect themselves. Even they live in groups of 10 to 100 narwhals together so that no one can harm them. Their diet is so precise. Narwhals mostly eat the meat of creatures like fish, shrimps, krill, and squids.

How much Do Narwhals Eat a Day?

As they are one of the world’s largest creatures, they eat so much food in a day. Narwhals eat about 66 pounds (30 kilograms). That’s like eating 264 cheeseburgers. Isn’t it amazing?

How Do Narwhals Eat their Food?

It is seen many times that this sea unicorn uses its tusk (horn) to attack some aquatic creatures. And then they create a sort of vacuum and suck up their food. They do not chew their food because they do not have teeth in their mouth.

What Do Narwhals Not Eat?

Narwhals do not eat penguins and seals because they do not like to come out of the deep sea, and penguins and seals dive in the sea closer to the shore. Narwhals also do not eat humans, but they can kill them. They do not intentionally attack them; they are afraid of humans. When they see fishing nets or humans, they start moving their fins swiftly. It can easily kill humans.

Narwhals do not eat plants like seaweeds because they are carnivores. Narwhals also do not eat jellyfish, planktons, sharks, dolphins, polar bears (but polar bears eat them), and koalas (because they have never interacted with each other as koalas live in Australia).
