Can you use floor leveler on MDF?
Prevent MDF from taking in all moisture by using a self-leveler after priming. Replace all of the MDF with plywood, then level the plywood to the desired height. Because wood flexes and the leveler cracks over time, self-leveling is out of the question for this project.
Can you use self leveling compound on chipboard flooring?
You won’t have any problems if you just use some glue and screws. Use a two-component compound and not water based for latexed (self leveling) applications.
What type of flooring can be installed over particle board?
Particle board subflooring limits your options for hard surface flooring to vinyl planks or laminate. On particle board, sublfoor leveling is a difficult and expensive undertaking. For a plank floor to be installed, the subfloor must be smooth enough. Otherwise, carpet would be the only option.
